Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. In addition to the helpful suggestions shared earlier, if you still have the similar issues or concerns with the app, we'd request you to share the bug information on Adobe Illustrator UserVoice. Product team would be happy to look into it.

Regards,

Ashutosh

To add to what has already been suggested, another possibility is you accidently lowered the opacity on your LAYER.

On a path level, those strokes are 100% black.

Edit: You can assign whatever you want. Sometimes it’s on a Layer, Group or Path level.

Always look in you Layer Panel along with your Appearance Panel.

The giveaway is that “meatball” in Layer Panel will be darken.

And yet another place to look: Preferences > Appearance of Black.

The Appearance panel is another place to look.

Try selecting the stroke and checking the Transparency Panel (located under the Window Menu). It will tell you what percentage of opacity has been applied to the stroke. If it is less than 100% then adjust it so that it is 100%. Opacity is a separate function that is not affected by choosing a color and percentage of that color through the Color and Swatches Panels.
