Illustrator stroke in mm help

Hi everyone,

I am making a design for my laser and I need the dimensions to be exact but I have hit a snag with stroke width. I have drawn the design with default stroke width (I think it was 0.325 mm or similar) and then I needed to change that stroke to 3mm so when I change it to object is stays 3mm.

The problem is that for some reason 0.2mm stroke corresponds to 2.86mm in real time??? I thought I knew how stroke works but now I am just confused. Anyone have some advice on how to have 3mm stroke selected and actually for it to be correct in the drawing?

Thank you

Did you scale the object?

Hi Monika, no I did not scale it. The selected stroke is 0.2mm but in reality it corresponds to 3mm. It should be worth mentioning that this is a brush stroke.

OK,that is logical. The brush has its own width and the stroke width acts as a multiplier to it. If you want this precise, get rid of the brush.
