Illustrator super laggy after Win 7 update of 10mar2019

Decent I7 machine, normally runs great.

Latest ID and IL as of this date.

Windows rollup ran last night, now IL is really laggy.

ID seems fine.

Thoughts?

Can you try if resetting Illustrator preferences helps?

Rename the folder, so you can revert it.

Did that just now - doesn't seem to make a difference.

I had also updated Bridge CC this morning - I rolled that back before resetting Illustrator preferences.

Still laggy.

Hi Jay,

We are so sorry to hear about this issue. Sometimes this happens due to the permission errors. I would request if you can try these steps: Preferences folder read-only error in Illustrator and let us know if that helps.

Regards,

Srishti

thanks, but that wasn't it. a cleanup and re-install seems to have done the job.

You could try and contact Customer Care. They can login to your computer to check things out:

I contacted support, at their direction we renamed the preferences folders.

That didn't seem to do the job completely, so used the cleanup tool to remove both versions of Illustrator (had also v 22.1, I think) and re-install the latest.

Not super great, but ok-ish now.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Alas, the relief didn't last. The lag returned, and requires patience to use the software.

I also tried versions 23.0.1 and 23.0.2 without improvement.

Has anyone else found a fix?

I did verify / reset all of the prefs folders as read/write.

No change in performance.

Where does IL store undo information?

It seems that performance gets progressively as I work until I save. Then performance improves until I do more editing.
