Question

Illustrator Unable to recognize custom Chinese font names

I have two sets here with different names except for the one in the name table. Why is there only one set that can be correctly recognized as a Chinese font by Illustrator. The attachment includes two sets of fonts and their parsing documents。

The font with file name HYFangSongJ CAN CN Name.otf can be automatically recognized as a Chinese font name(汉仪仿宋简) by Illustrator, but the font with file name HYFangSongJ CANNOT CN Name.otf cannot be recognized as a Chinese font name(汉仪仿宋) by Illustrator and can be searched for by its English name(HYFangSong)

What are the font requirements for displaying Chinese names in Illustrator?

It is a surprisingly complex topic, and I am not an expert. However, you may glean something from all the information discussed here.

One thing of interest was this comment:

> Do you have enough Chinese characters in the font already? Because Adobe apps take a look at your glyph set, and may decide to not list it as Chinese if certain glyphs are missing.

Thank you for your answer

Q: Is there enough Chinese characters in the font?
A: There is only one identical Chinese character in both fonts, but one can recognize Chinese names and the other cannot
If the Adobe e application will view your glyph set, could you please let me know which character sets are needed?

Hello @as38783964884h,

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, a public link to a sample file after uploading it to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc., and a screen recording of your workflow and the problem (https://adobe.ly/3SiGmAn), so we can investigate this further?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
