Illustrator undo function not working etc

New Here ,

Hi working in illustrator at the moment on Montery 12.1 and its glitching all over the place. Sometimes when i hit the undow function it will do phantom steps that i never made in between the steps that i did make. So if i wanted to undo 1 time, i might have to click twice for it to actually do it. And then when im using the type on a path tool to use type around circles - sometimes after undone something comepletelyt different the type ona  path tool will move out of place and then when i try to redo, the type on a path will still remain out of place. These are actions im not even making that i cant 'redo'. Very odd. Dont know if anyone else is having this issue.

Also when im cutting out shapes with pathfinder, the shapes display like that have been cut into and dont follow the actual ancer point path, i can see that it has actually cut the correct shape out, but it displays wonkey, if i turn the gpu off this fixes it but i shouldnt have to do this surely? I am also working ona  brand new mac as of last year.

Hi, so sorry this is happening! First, I just want to make sure that you have tried resetting Preferences, and does this fix the issue? Also have you updated to the latest version of Illustrator?

Here are instructions on how to reset or delete preferences: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-preference-issues.html

What kind of mac - is this a laptop with a 2nd monitor? I have had similar wonky behavior in the past that was related to the GPU, where it automatically switched to CPU. It improved when I disconnected the 2nd monitor, just for troubleshooting.

Ultimately I had to uninstall/reinstall Illustrator, trash preferences, temp files and delete old preference files/profiles related to the monitor. These are just some suggestions of what to do next - you can add more info here, let us know what happens and that will enable us to help further.

Hi thanks for your reply - i have reinstalled illustrator and updated, also reset prefs, its hard as it doesnt happen all the time. I wills ee how it goes.

Another issue im having is that when im scaling live text with object shapes like the screen shot here.... it all misaligns, when the text is outlined it scales everything down properly. (See how the diamond has moved away from the 'T' When its scaled down)

Also when i go to click on a fly out menu like colours above - sometimes they dont open unless i move the panel away from the side of the screen? so weird...and also sometimes they open to the right hand side so they are invisable off screen and i have to double click again for them to open on the left side like normal.

Ive never had so many issues with illustrator before. Dont know if there is a single thing causing all this?

Thanks
