illustrator Will. Not. Stop. snapping to pixels

Upgraded to the latest version of Illustrator (I originally had CC 2015 19.1.0 and it was lovely)

Now when drawing any object, either with the pen tool or a shape tool, it will not stop snapping to the pixel grid. All the various places you turn snapping features off have been turned off.

Smart guides have been turned off too.

Nope! only 1px increments allowed. IE: draw a rectangle it will ONLY snap to the pixel grid. Try to move a single anchor point? NOPE! it will ONLY move in 1px increments.

The only way I've found to get around this is to go to max zoom and move one anchor point a wee tiny bit, then things will behave normally.

Closing and then re-opening the file has the behavior reverting back to pixel snapping.

I have tried deleting preferences and restarting Ai. This did nothing.

I have tried deleting the preferences and re-booting my PC. This did nothing.

I've searched the forums and the usual suspects mentioned (aka: all the snapping features hidden around Ai) have been turned off. The align "Align art to pixel grid on creation and transformation" button is off.

Where else should I be looking and what should I be looking for?

-Thanks

A little more info after fighting this for a few hours.

I've uninstalled v23.0.1 and re-installed v19.2.1 (CC 2015) multiple times and it is still behaving the same way.

On a side note, CC 2015 still shows up in the Windows 7 Uninstall control panel after the Creative Cloud app claims to have deleted it. Evidently some fragment is not getting cleared out. Is there something hiding in the registry or elsewhere?

Anyhoo, if I create a file from the Home screen, everything is normal. If I create a new file via the menu or keyboard shortcut the behavior is as described in my earlier post. Objects and anchor points absolutely will not stop snapping to the pixel grid.

-Thanks again

I hope that this still helps someone despite being posted almost a year after the question was asked.

There are two (well, one and a half) things that I would check to be sure that it isn't an issue with the instance of Illustrator you have.

The first thing is to turn off the Snap to Pixel setting in the menubar.

View > Snap to Pixel

I have had issues with this being enabled every time I open Illustrator or create a new project.

The second is the toggle button in the top right corner of the toolbar.

It is only another input for the menubar toggle, however, it does have additional settings that you could try turning off manually.

When you create a new document based on a Web document preset, Snap to Pixel will automatically be enabled. Print or Illustration don't have this enabled.

Kin, the current versions seem to inherit the option.

If you turn it on, it will be on in new documents, if you turn it off, it will stay off untill you turn it on.
