illustratot 2019 - Unrecognized file icon

Since I updated the software to version 2019, the icon for the software files looks like an empty white page, instead of the Illustrator icon (Black rectangle, orange frame and AI letters inside).

All the files that were created in the previous version look like this, but also the new files that were created in version 2019 look like this.

What went wrong with the installation?

(Note that I updated Photoshop but did not experience this problem here.)

I have the same problem in InDesign als well ... very annoying
This is not the best update .....

Another problem I have might be related to this. When trying to open the file by using a File Explorer the will not open in Illustrator. Illustrotor pops up, but the file will not open. I can only open files through the File > Open and then search the file.

Are you on a Mac or Windows?

I had a similar issue:

- on a Mac, I opened the app and File > Open documents

- on a Windows, I had to re-link (I think it is called File Association) the file format and the software. Right-Click on a file, Select Open with.. Choose the new illustrator and select a checkbox to make this association permanent: teaching the computer what app to use with ai files for example.

I work on a PC. I have already tried what you suggested and also restarded the computer after updates and it did not help.
