Question

Importing DXF with splines / bezier needed

Dear Illustrator community,

I have to import a CATIA V5 file into Illustrator. I export the artwork from CATIA as DXF and this can be opened in IIllustrator. Unfortunately, the splines are divided into an infinite number of small straight line segments.

How can I import the curves as Bezier?

Thank you!

This is a common issue with CAD/DXF files.

There is an older solution, but still may work using a javascript tool called "Join Reasonably".

Thanks, Kevin, for the hint and for the link. There are some useful scripts on the page. 🙂

In the meantime I found another solution that converts splines to bezier curves: Autodesk Alias.

The results are excellent!
