Importing psb/tiff in Illustrator no longer works?

Community Beginner ,

I am trying to import a .psb or even a .tif into Illustrator but when the ball is done spinning, nothing updates. I know these files are compatible with Illustrator as I've done this before as well as it lists .psb and .tif in the dropdown as compatible files.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I’ve tested this behavior and can confirm that the issue also occurs with high-resolution PSD files. While PSD files do get linked, they appear without a preview, unlike PSB or TIFF formats.

I also noticed that embedding the PSD, PSB & Tiff files works as a workaround, but it significantly increases the AI file size, which might not be ideal in many cases.

I’ve logged a bug for this and asked the respected teams if this is a limita

A 150 ppi seems to work. Since it is not for a magazine, but for a large outdoor artwork, do you really need 300 ppi?

Yeah, I should've updated the issue/thread, but it wasn't a fix to the problem. I could get the images to show and work ok when at 145dpi, which was sufficient on this occasion.

I think you had hit a limit with images at that size an resolution.

Shouldn't be though, right? Or at least much larger than what I had!? And fairly sure I've not run into this issue before. InD would have been preferred but limited to size... can't win 🤔🙂

I don't know the limits, but maybe Anubhav can give some guidelines.

Hello,

I am having the same issue. I link a .psb file and it seems to work for a few minutes but after I update the .psb file I get an error message in Illustrator saying it cannot find the file.

When I start over with a fresh document and try to place the .psb file again, I get the color wheel and then nothing happens.

Is there any update on this issue?
