(idk why?)

Hi Andreas,

The "why" is easy to answer: because the engineers did not program it into Illustrator!

To make a feature request (or to see if it's being worked on) go to:

Illustrator Feature Requests

Please post the link back here. Now that phones are taking 16-bit pictures, more people are likely to want this.

Best,

Jane

Fixed it - but not satisfied

The problem was, that new iphone screenshots were taken with 16bit.

Illustrator works only with 8bit - at least I know no way to switch to 16 bit. Or does someone know a solution?

Illustrator can't be switched. But maybe you can switch the iPhone.

thats no problem. They opened with 16 bit/channel.

I transformed the screenshots with PS in 8 bit, so i can use it with AI - it's a littlebit awkward but AI does not support 16bit pictures

WOW -  you're so smart! 😉 But honestly that would be great! Go on Dev's, lift Illustrator up to 16 bit  - at least the imported pictures!

ACP and MVP are just volunters and helping in our spare time.

We don't have insights as to why something is the way it is.

You won't reach the "Dev's" in here, but via the link Jane-e posted.
