Quick question! On a Mac Pro 5,1 does Illustrator take advatage of having duel processors? I'm looking into upgrading from a single to a duel processor. Thanks!

Hi,

Processor speed is more important than the number of cores when using Illustrator.
If you are currently using a 3.33GHz single processor, dual is not very effective.
If you are currently using a 2.8GHz single processor, I would recommend replacing it with a 3.33 or 3.45 single processor.
Of course, a 3.33 or 3.45 dual processor is better, but it has the drawback of power and thermal issues.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. If I got it correctly, you are using Macbook Pro 5,1 which is 2009 version. I'd recommend upgrading to the latest hardware and OS so that you can use the latest version of Adobe apps.
Illustrator does require multicore processor as per system requirements. You may check the details on help article https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/system-requirements.html
Let us know if you need more information.

yeah, I won't be upgrading to the lastest Mac Pros anytime soon! That wasn't my question. Also I already can use the lastest versions of the Adobe apps.
