Is it possible to hide specific fonts?

Whenever I try to find a font for the text, I get overwhelmed by all the fonts/wingding typefaces that take up much of my font list. I find it harder to find the fonts I want since they are dispersed throughout the font list and easily missed while scrolling.

Is there a way in the settings to turn off or hide these fonts? I'll include pictures of the fonts I'm referring to.

Oh, it's Noto. Hello, fellow Apple user: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/remove-all-noto-sans/td-p/11974948

You might want to check out Font Menu Cleaner. It might or might not work.

The easiest way to hide them would be for Adobe to add a line of code to filter for language to the drop down character panels, just as it allows users to filter for properties and installed Adobe fonts.

Otherwise, you have to spend a ridiculous amount of time on the "create a favorites list" recommendation that community experts keep shilling.

@hunter.

• There is NOT a direct way to hide or disable specific fonts within the font list. I do minimize the number of recently used fonts displayed at the top of the list. In Illustrator Preferences - Type - Number of Recent Fonts. I think I set mine to 3 or 5?

• Turn off any 'Type' in the Preferences you may not use. Show East Asian Options and Show Indic Options is not checked (see ill-pref.png)
• I also rank up the size of the font (A A A) so not as many font families are showing (I pick the bigger ).
