Question

Is there a plugin etc. for identifying and naming colours?

I am slightly colour blind and it would be really helful to me if there was a way to identify and name colours automatically in illustrator. Some tones make me uncertain, like some purples look a bit like blue to me.

It could already be a feature, because After Effects manage to to do it. When I use the colour picker in the solids panel, it identifies any colour I hover over on my screen, naming them "medium royal blue", "dark grey red" or what not. Through the years I have not found anything like this in Illustrator, but maybe there is a plugin or such?

I mean,  After Effects already does this flawelessly if you use the colour picker inside the solids settings panel. So Adobe has it covered in one place at least.

Basically all the Adobe apps have different codebases. You cannot just copy and paste the code.

I haven't come accross a plugin that does this. You can post this as a feature request in https://illustrator.uservoice.com

You know that there are devices for blind people that can tell colors?

I see, thank you:)

No, I didn't know that. I have the mild protan colourblindness, so most of the time I get by. Even in my work, it's rarely a problem. It's only some times, like when there is little red in a purple and it just looks blue too me, or when som green, brown, yellow colours have low saturation and they get a bit confusing to me.
This is why the way the colour picker in after effects solids is so helpful and I don't understand why it can't be like that in all adobe softwares...
