Which application are you using to check the PDF? Apple Preview?

Try Acrobat.

Hello @maaaleek,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing a sample Ai and PDF file (https://adobe.ly/3NQ4rwe) so that we can investigate this further?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Thank you for providing the files, @maaaleek. I've reviewed the files, and it seems the issue might be related to the color profile. Your Illustrator file is set to an "Untagged CMYK" color profile. This can cause discrepancies when exporting to PDF.

To resolve this, follow these steps:

  1. Open your Illustrator file.
  2. Go to "Edit" > "Assign Profile..."
  3. Choose the correct color profile for your document (likely "U.S. Web Coated [SWOP] v2" for print).
  4. Click "OK" to apply the profile.

After that, check the transparency settings for the layers, ensure they are set correctly, and then export the PDF. This should help maintain the opacity settings when viewing the PDF in applications like Apple Preview, Adobe Acrobat, or Google Chrome.

Let me know if this resolves your issue or if you have further questions!

Best,

Anshul Saini

Almost certainly this is a color management related issue. If you do not know what that is or how to use it, please see for introductory documents here: https://gwg.org/pdf-x-workflow/
