Issue with links Illustrator - smb Shared folders NAS

Hi, does anyone have same issue with Illustrator CC 2022/2023 Mac or Windows :

Have Illustrator file with linked images from a shared folder on NAS ( Synology) mounted via smb protocole ( smb3) . Working with mac os x Catalina, Monterey.. and Windows PC ...

Owner open the AI file : links are ok, not missing

On another computer : someone open AI file with links OK, some others : links are missing

Try with other shared folder ( on Windows Server with smb ) : same issue

I made several tests : rename image file, copy image file on another foleder : have same issue....

So issue is : same users on different computers, open AI file with linked images on smb share folders : links missing even if all computers have the share folders mounted on computers....

I made test again with older afp protocole : same strange issue....

If someone have the same issue.... let me know 😉

I know Adobe tell that it is better to work on desktop, but when you have to works with images from shared images database, with a lot of subfolders , you cannot locally import images...

Regards,

Christian

One possible issue: as far as I know adobe illustrator does not support linking files using relative paths. So if the path of the files appears different on the two computers, then the links will not work. If you were using two computers running the same OS you might be able to work around this by ensuring the network drive is mapped exactly the same way (e.g. using same drive letter)
