Issues with Pressure pen (UGEE 2150)

Hey there, I recently purchased a UGEE UG-2150 pen display and I can't figure out why it won't function for me properly in Illustrator.

So Far:

I have the latest version of Illustrator installed. I downloaded the driver for my system (MAC) from the site Download- UGEE - 3rd option down.

I ran through the pkg install, and even rebooted the computer. After rebooting, I return to the TabletSetting and test out the pen/screen which seems to function okay. I also go through the Calibration process. All appear fine.

Problem:

Next, I open a project in Illustrator - even using the pen to select on the display - and I can select 'Brush' and draw around the screen with fixed brushes, seemingly okay. However, when I go to the Brushes window and try to add a New Brush, I select the Calligraphic Brush option and this is where I encounter the big issue. I am not able to select the "Pressure" option (under pull-down window that starts with "Fixed"), and this is the main reason I wanted to use the UG-2150 in the first place.

I can't figure out what I overlooked or where something is awry. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

You might try and install a Wacom driver on top of the UGEE driver. Sometimes this works. It's a hack.

Interesting, I'd never heard of that. Worth a shot. Any particular Wacom driver that you know of?

Thanks.

It's a hack. You might want to start with a driver for a somewhat comparable tablet. If it doesn't work, try a different one, different version, whatever.

Please tell us the outcome of this as it may help others. Thank you.

Yes this seems to have done the trick - strangely enough.

  • Downloaded appropriate "Latest Driver" from Drivers | Wacom
  • Ran the install and restarted the computer.
  • Opened and ran through TabletSetting app - pen test and calibration.
  • Re-opened illustrator and was then able to achieve the desired customized brush (using the pressure option settings)

So far it appears that this has solved it for me. Thank you for the tip!

update your tablet's drivers.
