Jagged diagonals when using Transform Effect

Hi,

When using Transform Effect on text or shape,

the diagonal lines are either jagged or in bumpy steps instead of level.

If used with offset path using rounded corners then the lines become rounded bumpy.

Any help appreciated thank you.

If you want it clean, do it like this: https://www.vektorgarten.de/long-shadows-with-illustrator.html

Why would you expect 15 copies of a pointy shape to produce a smooth line?

Because i watched a tutorial on creating a text effect, in the tutorial text the diagonal lines are straight not jagged But my text has jagged diagonals and i followed the tutorial properly.

Do you know if there is a fix for this or are you just a Troll ?

I'm not trying to troll. You understand that the effect is producing copies of the object, right?

You can use this effect to create a 'good enough' block shadow under these circumstances:

1. Your output is going to be raster (JPEG, PNG etc.)

2. The number of copies is sufficiently high that they won't be evident given the PPI of the raster output

It frustrates me that the internet is full of people promoting this and blend tool methods as a catch-all block shadow creator. It's useful for that in very specific circumstances only.

No probs and apologies for asking if you were a troll. I will check tutorials on the laptop next time as phones make everything look sharp.

Yes it is making copies of the text but i thought illustrator being so amazing that the lines would be smooth after seeing the tutorial and thought it was my settings were wrong.

Its easy to zoom in on the software aswell so you see more edges, ill try not to zoom in so much.

Im learning illustrator at home as i struggle to get out and about somr days so am grateful for the tutorials that people put up online as they are a great way to learn using the software and how to create funky effects.

It must be annoying to experienced users when newbies like me ask silly questions, but thanks for replying and sorry about the Troll.

All the best.

I should apologise for being rather sharp in my first response.

The problem is not your question, but with video tutorials that make everything look effortless and don't explain what Illustrator is actually doing.  If no one explains fundamentals to you, then you can't problem-solve if things don't turn out exactly as you expect.

Yes some tutorials only show parts of how to create an effect but there are good ones out there like Spoon Graphics or Texture Labs, im not a friend of theirs but think their tutorials are good.

I used the mobile phone to watch the tutorial and laptop to make the text, ive just watched the tutorial on the laptop and the text has the jagged edges like my text does.
