I'm trying to save my work as a jpeg from illustrator. In the file there is only transparancy on the background and everything else is opaque. Why does the jpeg have transparancy other then the background?

That is why my boss and I are confused.

In the illustrator file, the BG is transparent.

On separate layers there is text (they are above the BG layer so that shouldn't be the issue).

And the other text doesn't have any effects or blending options that would cause an issue.

But when we go to export as jpeg, One piece of text is transparent to the point of barely seeing it while in the original file its solid bright orange.

I tried what you are doing on your computer by exporting it. and everything is as it should be.

What are you trying to do ? save what you have made into a jpg file? I mean why are you using the export option?

second question. what is your background image or the mate you are using>?

The best way to save your image as a JPG and the correct exportable size by email is to save your work as a Save for web option.

in that window you will have the option to see your mate your image and resolution and size in case you want it smaller or larger .....

It you need help with that do not hesitate to ask, I will help as much as I can.

With the composition open in Illustrator, select that text object and take a screenshot with the Layers and Appearance panels in view.

Hello, we have in fact tried saving as both png and eps and it has the same effect.

We aren't sure what could be causing the problem.

There may be overprinting elements, and overprint preview is turned off in Illustrator (View> Overprint preview).

The left screen shot shows type with overprint fill on, off, and on, (with 50% opacity type under it), respectively.

The right screen shot shows the same file with overprint preview turned off.

To change the overprint setting, go to Window> Attributes.

If this doesn't fix your issue, try saving your Illustrator file as a PDF (using Illustrator defaults), then export to an image from Acrobat (File> Export to> Image.
