JPG Export Artboard Suffix Issue

Hello!

I could use some help finding how to update my preferences for a recent issue that has started when exporting files as jpg.  Illustrator has started automatically adding the artboard name to the end of my file names, even with the suffix turned off.  I would like to have this feature turned off, however I am unable to find where this can be edited.

  • Illustrator v29.6.1
  • PC
  • My Process: I go to File > Export > Export As .  Next, in the Export window, I select "Use Artboards", Range 1, and I have Suffix option unchecked.  Then I click Export.  On the JPEG Option window, I make any adjustments needed then click OK.  When I go to review the file, the file name has the artboard name suffix.  (pictures attached)

Thank you for any advice 🙂

Hey,

I'm also currently having this issue, never had it before - alway have suffix unchecked. Is this maybe a glitch with illustrator 2025, as sometimes it does work?

Interested to see any more responses you have.

Hello @Audre23621442dvz3,

Could you try using Export for Screens (https://adobe.ly/40AQg4h) to export your artboards as JPEG files and check if it helps with your workflow?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Anubhav,

I do not typically use 'Export for Screens' - due to not being able to adjust the file name when saving.  When I utilize the 'Export for Screens' the file name is the Artboard.   I need the ability to change the file name when saving as JPG.

My typical scenarios is I create a template layer, then add layers for the interchanging text boxes.  This is so I do not have multiple copies of a decorative background (smaller file size).   With this method I do not use a lot of artboards.

I appreciate the help, unfortunately Export to Screens is not an option.

Hello @Audre23621442dvz3,

Thanks for confirming. When exporting multiple artboards (using Export As) as JPEG, the filename + artboard name is used. If you rename your artboard to something other than the default Artboard (x), that name will be used when exporting your JPEG, like (filename)_(artboard name) .jpg.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.
