Question

.jpg to .svg

Hello,

I have a picture of a HD bar and shield, black on white background, and it seems as though the image is embedded in the background? When I select the image, it highlights the whole box, and I can't seem to just select the bar and shield. What am I doing wrong? I am trying to turn JUST the bar and shield to vector file.
All help and explanation is appreciated.

Alan

There are no individual elements to select in a JPEG. Draw the elements using Illustrator's tools if you want them vector.

So, when saving images that I like, I shouldn't save them as a .jpg? I think they should be saved as .svg, but at times I don't have that save option, so I use .jpg.
Is there a better way to save them when .svg is not available?
Thank you!

Alan

What you save it as depends on what you want to use it for.

Did you create this in Illustrator? If that's the case, go back to your original AI file to edit.
