Launching Illustrator causes windows text to disappear

I've been having an intermittent issue where, upon launching illustrator, most windows explorer related text disappears from my system (including any toolbars/dialogs in illustrator). I have windows 10 I'm on version 25.2 right now, but this has been happening off and on for months. The only solution I've found is to restart my whole computer and hope that the bug doesn't happen upon launch. Is this a known issue there's a solution for?
