Leading value does not appear

I need to find the leading of a line of text, but when I click in the text box the leading value appears blank! This happens with some regularity and I haven't found a workaround or any way to fix it.

when the field does not show any value, the selected text object has different leading values for different lines.

This has been going on since atleast 2015.3. For example I open a new file go select the first word

Then I will select the whole paragraph, and go back to the first word and get a different result - BLANK

To fix go out of the text box entirely, deselect all. And then put cursor somewhere in middle of paragraph you can see 6pt leading. Select all and change to 6 point leading.

I am using paragraph spacing in front of the distribution statement and set the entire paragraph to the same leading number as this works best.

The value always went to blank if you had multiple values selected, but now seems get corrupted depending on what you had previously selected, and you will get blank more often than pervious Illustrator versions.

What version are you on?

Hi Jim,

Does exiting out of and deselecting the text container, then going back in and selecting only 1 character work for you. If not can you post  a copy of your file  (use dropbox or similar ftp sharing),with just the text container. Once you figure out what your desired leading is for one line you can then elect all, or as far as you need to, and set  all the liens to the same value.
