There’s a letterpress look I’m trying to achieve in Photoshop/Illustrator using layer masks and the torn edges filter but what I’ve come up with isn’t quite like these examples I found online. Anyone have a suggestion on how to do this?

Thank you!
You can do this in Illustrator if you want to stick to pure vector..?

This Fun Effect is best applied in Photoshop after your design is created in Adobe Illustrator. Save your Illustrator graphics and in Photoshop choose "place linked" from the file menu to place your Illustrator graphic inot a photoshop document.
Then add your texture to this file by opening that as a sepearat image in Photoshop and placing it as a layer over your Illustrator Graphic. Select a blend mode in the layers pallet in Photoshop that allows the texture to be applied to the layer beneath, such as lighten or screen and adjust the opacity on the layer to create the look you are going for.
Save this file as a .psd and your good to go. The Illustrator graphics are editable and will update in Photoshop each time the document is opened.
