I recently subscribed to Illustrator and now I can't get the Line Segment Tool to change colors. It keeps changing to "No Fill". How would I fix the settings to make it work properly again??

Change the Stroke instead of the Fill?

The Line Segment tool creates lines and not shapes.

I've moved this from the Using the Community forum (which is the forum for issues using the forums) to the Illustrator forum so that proper help can be offered.

The line segment can be filled, but that only makes sense in certain circumstances. Double click the tool and then you can activate the fill. Will be sticky until the next relaunch of Illustrator.

Are you sure you want to fill the line or do you want to stroke it?

But you can double click the Line Segement tool in  the Toolbox and check the Fill Line.

You won't be able to see it until you join the line with another one or make it curved.

I haven't learned how to curve the line but thank you so much for your answers! I am going to try this now. Stroke instead of fill. Thanks again for your help here everyone.

>>I haven't learned how to curve the line

I don't believe you asked that question. The Line Segment tool is meant for straight lines (although they can be curved after the fact). There is a Curvature tool but it mainly is for curved lines (but can create corner points).

I suggest you take some time and learn the classic Pen tool--then you will, with a few variations, know the Pen tool in just about every Adobe program that has one.

(There's lots of tutorials on the web too.)
