Line tool creates multiple instances

Recently the line tool and all the tools inside it (arc, grid, etc) create multiple instances when I use them. It's as if I was holding the tilde key, but I'm not and it's not stuck. I don't have the same problem with the marquee or circle tool. Even if I hold Shift and create a straight line, many lines will be created which are not constrained to the angle I'm trying to follow.

I'm on CS6. The problem may have started after I upgraded to MacOS Sierra, but I'm not sure.

Does anybody know what's going on and how to solve it?

Try and connect a different keyboard.

Shut down the computer, restart and then start only Illustrator and try again. Especially browsers, e-mail, online banking software, stuff like TeamViewer is known to cause this kind of issues.

Try a different version of the Wacom plugin. But maybe first uninstall it to test if it is the issue.

Does this happen on every file, or just a certain one, that may have a transform effect on a layer. If you do a Command Y are the extra paths actually there, or is this s redraw issue that might be caused by GPU preview (Command E to toggle). Does entering text work fine, or do you get a bunch of tilde's

It happens on every file and no effect is applied to the layer.

The paths are there in outline view.

Entering text works fine. The tilde key is not stuck or broken.

Since you recently updated to Sierra and this started, I would update you wacom driver.

They call the duplication the tilde trick, but it actually is the flipped quote mark, so look for something like this. Not sure if Bamboo has buttons on pen, but I disable those as they get in the way more than help by accidentally touching them.

Interferences with other apps are known to cause this.

WHich other apps are open? Please list everything.

Also: do you have a Wacom?

    Which keyboard?

Hm, I haven't been monitoring which other apps are open, but usually it's iTunes, Safari, Mail, some finder windows and Photoshop.

I do have a Wacom tablet, an old bamboo fun.

My keyboard is the standard wireless Apple keyboard for the iMac.

This is the first time this has ever happened.
