Question

locked/hidden objects moving with artboards

I've noticed that locked and/or hidden objects are moving with artboards, which was never previously the correct functionality.

This even happens to guides when they are turned off. Will have to revert to older version of Ai until this is fixed as it prohibits me from even normal workflow tasks.

I would have thought artboard functionality would be on some sort of quality control checklist before a new version is released?

I'm on an iMac running High Sierra 10.13.3 and on the newest Illustrator CC.

here's a screen recording of the issue in action: Dropbox - artboard-issue.mp4

Moving of locked/hidden objects has been added on purpose due to user feedback.

They are already working on it.

Thanks for the insight Monika — however the idea that this is an intentional software update baffles me.

The inherent principle of locking or hiding and object is to ensure that it remains locked or hidden.

Without the ability to do so, there is absolutely no way to re-arrange artboards independently of content.

I'm especially shocked that the developers would think it's a good idea to allow hidden objects to be moved without a users knowledge — this will inevitably lead to unwanted surprises and frustration when people turn visibility back on.

When you say that they are working on it, do you mean they are reverting back to the normal [legacy] behavior or adding an option to disable this new behavior?
