Hi!

Can someone walk me through/show me how to re-design/re-create this logo. I have trouble connecting the lines to the font (neuropolitical) and keeping the border/stroke to it without it disconnecting/breaking up. I created type outlines as well. Attached is what the recreation should look like. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!

Is the text already converted to paths?

Type > Outline text.

View > Smart guides

View  > Snap to point

Then you take the direct selection tool, select the 2 anchor points at the e, then drag them to the rightuntil they snap to the s.

With the rectangle tool draw a rectangle that is as high as the text

and then measure the distance also using that rectangle in order to move it.

Then you need two circles that you can draw with the ellipse tool

To build this all together use the live paint tool or the shapebuilder tool.

Please read about how to use all these tools in the documentation.

These are the elements you need:

Difficult to see what exactly this should look like.

You can draw a 4-pointed star with the star tool, Just use the modifier keys while dragging the mouse:

arrow keys for changing the number of points

Cmd (resp Ctrl on Windows) for locking the inner radius and only dragging the points longer

WHen the shape is done you can select all the inner anchor points with the direct select tool and then apply a rounded corner

Thanks again. Really appreciate your help. How do I delete the circle part with shape builder to make the under loop connect and not have the inner circle show up?

Just curious, but are you recreating this logo as practice in learning Illustrator?  In terms of copyright ownership, you need permission from the original creator to even copy the artwork.  Do your research into where the logo came from and who owns the rights to it.  If you've already gotten permission, then you can proceed.

You didn't fail at all.

The base shapes are there!

With the shapebuilder tool you select all and then click and drag to merge shapes.

Press Alt + Click to delete.

As for the "i" star, I would pen tool it, yes. I would only do half and I would then use the reflect tool to ensure it would be perfectly even and combine the two shapes into one.
