Hello, I am looking for someone who can write adobe scripts, a developer, or someone to create a plug in, someone who can write what I need for Illustrator. I have found Adobe Devnet but can't find the right forum to point me in the right direction - can anyone here help? I have googled looking for someone who can write scripts but no luck which is why I thought I'd try these forums. I am looking to learn more about scripting so I can better communicate what I need from Illlustrator as well as find someone who might be able to do the piece of work. Can anyone point me broadly in the right direction? Thank you.

Hi, this is a pretty good spot for that though I'm not sure about forum rules on self-promotion. I've made over 50 Illustrator panels (available on my Github) and you can email me, but you may want to provide specific examples of the kind of work you'd like done.

Thank you very much for your reply. I hope I'm asking the right questions, I'm not sure exactly what it is I need so please correct me if i'm on the wrong idea here. I understand illustrator uses scripts or plug ins to automate or do a lot of frequently used actions. In my case I'm looking for something that will take some simple data from a .csv file and put that into a particular place and order for me in an illustrator file. I'm also looking to create a sine wave type effect as well. So I guess I'm looking for an extension on graph functionality. Probably the simplest way to show what I need is to show you my end product which is here: https://beachofbrighton.com/product/brighton-and-hove-shoreham-and-newhaven-tide-chart/ currently manually painstakingly plotted in illustrator. I am looking to automate any part of the process of making the chart. Am I asking the right sort of question? If you think it's the sort of thing you do and can contact me directly I would be very grateful. my email is hello@sharonlee.uk thank you very much.

@sharonlee1,

I am confident someone here can help you if they have the time. Inventsable is among the best in these parts.

As for learning scripting, I've been on that quest for over a year. I started with a Mac-only macro-building app; "Keyboard Maestro" which in addition to its built-in capabilities gives me a great platform for running JavaScript.

Keyboard Maestro works great with Adobe apps. I encourage you to give it a spin.

No, I don't work for Stairways Software. I just know what it has done for our company in the way of Adobe CC automation.

Thank you very much for your reply too.  As I said to Inventsable, I do hope I'm asking the right questions 🙂 Keyboard maestro looks really interesting, thank you, I will explore it now. I'm not sure exactly what it is I need so would be grateful to know if I'm not asking for the right thing. Again, if you think it's the sort of thing you do and you would be happy to contact me directly I would be very grateful. My email is hello@sharonlee.uk thank you very much.

I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction for the best forum for this question? I'm looking at Github, devnet, devppl but they all look a bit inaccessible for someone who is not a developer themselves. Bit stuck! Thank you very much

Hi Sharon,

I’ve just emailed you regarding automating your tidal charts—which are cracking, by the way.

This is the best forum for Illustrator-specific scripting questions. It’s also a good first stop if you’re looking for freelancers to do work for you, in addition to more general freelance sites such as Upwork.

If you wish to learn AppleScript/JavaScript/VisualBasic then there are other forums that can help with that, and I’m sure folks here can recommend a good beginner-friendly book to get you started. (Disclosure: I lead-authored Apress’s Learn AppleScript, 3rd Edition.)

Hello, I'm interested as well to find someone whom I can hire to write me a script on Adobe Illustrator.

basically what we need to do is to open a bunch of files (AI) from CSV with its SKU numbers and then nest nicely to one AI file.

It is a simple rectangular nesting. Please let me know if someone can do stuff like that.

my email is obovtenko@gmail.com
