Mac - color wheel between every action

Hello, 

I have the latest illustrator update downloaded and ever since then I have been having issues. Between every action I get the color spinning wheel for about 5 seconds then I can move an object and then again get the color wheel. This is happening for files that are only 15-25mb. I have also had horizontal lines appear on my files and parts of a sketch just disappear or go behind another object but once i zoom out or in it is corrected. Can someone give me some advice? Thank you!!
