Make glow around text

Hello, 

I´m making a label in illustrator, i would like the text to have this white glow around the black text as you can see on the picture below, the picture is made in photoshop. How can i make this glow in illustrator?

One method is simply an outer glow effect:

Thank you for you replay. I have made exatly like this, but nothing happens. Please see below picture.

It may not be visible from such fine text on a pale background.

This is a more blunt example with Feather on a thick stroke placed below the characters:

[tromboniator]

Perhaps you should try a different color for the glow, or a different blending mode.
