Make renaming layers consistent across Adobe applications.

Currently, the process of renaming layers in Adobe's apps is inconsistent and misleading for new users. It provides a frustrating experience when working in several apps simultaneously. To rename a layer, users need to perform different actions in Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects:

 Double ClickReturn key
After EffectsOK
PhotoshopOK
IllustratorOK

Please, fix it, and make it consistent.

Please post feature requests to https://illustrator.uservoice.com

How about After Effects gets changed to what is established in Illustrator?

Thanks for the link; I wasn't aware of it.

Any approach would work. I posted the same request in the After Effects section of this forum.

The issue with Illustrator is that it doesn't even allow the creation of custom keyboard shortcuts for renaming layers, for some reason. Additionally, the context menu doesn't activate at all when working with layers.

Your request shows the issue that exists with making things work exactly the same. The input methods might be used in a different way already in the applications concerned.

As for Illustrator:

If you happen to have something selected on the artboard or if you happen to have certain tools active while hitting the return key, then either the dialog box "Move Objects" will open or the settings for the tools will open. That is something that people are using in their workflows and they will certainly protest when it's taken away from them. https://youtu.be/OLER5kN2Ibs
