Making PNG Image Oval in Shape?
I'm using a rectangular PNG image (portrait) and I'd like to place it inside (make it conform to) an oval frame in Illustrator.

You could make a mask.
Create an oval (L)
Put it on top of the image.
Select both and select Object > Clipping Mask > Make
