Today, we're releasing Illustrator CC (22.1) which is available for download from the Creative Cloud desktop application. We're excited to announce several new features and fix for nearly 21 top customer bugs/issues reported on our UserVoice website.

Top Features of the Release

  • See on-screen controls clearly - You can now increase the size of anchor points, handles, and bounding boxes making them even easier to work with.
  • Merge data using CSV files - It’s easier than ever to merge data in the Variables Panel now that you can use CSV or XML files.
  • Import multiple page PDFs - Save time when you import all the pages of a PDF all at once. You can choose a page range or select individual pages.
  • Dropbox Smart Sync improvements - Now you can browse your Dropbox files without inadvertently downloading them.
  • Refer to this page for further details.

Top Issues fixed with the release

  • We have fixed 21 issues this release as reported on our UserVoice website. Please refer to this page for details of these bugs.
  • We have also fixed top 20 customer submitted crashes across MAC and Win through the crash reporter.
  • A big thank you to all of you who take time to report issues on UserVoice and submit crash reports. Thank you, we are getting stable because of your feedback. Please continue to vote on our UserVoice and submit crash reports so that we can pick the right set of bugs for the next release.

Warm Regards,

Can anyone confirm or deny that the last update to MAC OS 10.13.4 fixed the performance issues, GPU performance for example, on the iMac Pro?

I have one on order but I want to cancel if AI does get along with iMAC Pro well.

Anyone?

Thanks

All due respect for the complexity of the development process, being that I develop some myself, I can't help the feeling that after looking at all the bugs and issues in this thread, there is a serious problem.

I'm sorry to say that this last release in my opinion has not been up to the usual Adobe standards.  For example, the GPU issue that was supposed to be fixed with this release, was clearly not.  Besides the MANY issues reported here, especially the GPU issue is a thorn in the application for sure.

On MACs everything is so locked down, the QA process should be far more straight forward than the Windows environment where the many variables in Hardware and software are such a challenge.

Besides the already reported GPU issue, I also have an issue with zooming in and out after a trace has been performed. The application crashes often.  (Reports were sent)

Macbook Pro 15" (2015) 16gb

Running High Sierra macOS 10.13.3 (17D102)

AI is 22.1

No personal offense, but if I, (we), as users are paying a premium for the CC subscription model, we should not be used as a test bed to Beta test Adobe software releases.  This is how it seems with this "release" version of AI.  It feels like it wasn't really ready.  I'm sorry if this all feels harsh, but this how it appears to many of us as users who depend upon the Adobe suite for our work.

Bug fixes and updates should be extremely nimble if we are working in the subscription model.  I feel Adobe could do a lot better than this.  Also, updates need to be tested more completely before release.  I think this means that changes should be more focused and incremental so that there is the ability to more throughly test before a release is made, and thus, at a higher frequency.

My sincere apologies to any developers who might be offended. It's QA's responsibility and management's role to sign off on these updates. Believe me, the experience is painful for us as users as well.

Thanks for listening.

With administrator permissions cannot access, rename or delete this directory (as cloud install advises).

Down and can do nothing about it.

I am having an issue with Libraries. It doesn't happen all of the time, but when I try to alt + drag an asset from the library it distorts the vector. If I just drag in the image as a linked file it doesn't have any problems.

Also got problems with the GPU thing.

If I create a new document i only see a red Page!

When I create a additional new document it works.

When turning of GPU preview it also works.

Hi Daniel,

Can you please try to turn on app frame and then try to open your documents with GPU on. You can turn on app frame by going to Windows-> App Frame and check it on. If the issue is not resolved please revert back.

Thanks,

Sarah

Wondering if I am missing something. You can now open a PDF using all pages and it will open all pages as artboards, however... you cant just select "page 2" (etc...) and have it open page 2... it will always open page 1.
Is this a bug now? You can open page 2 by typing in the number 2 below the page preview...
Nice of Adobe to add that multi artboard open, but... why kill the old feature totally?

Anyone else noticing this?

You can select a range, if you want page 2-3, specify 2-3.

If you want page 13, specify 13

If you want page 1 and page 13, specify 1,13

That’s rudimentary...

what I am pointing out is that if you use the preview normally (cycle to page 2 or 3) it will only open page 1.

the only way to open page 2 now is to type in the number 2 or open all pages...

thats not how it SHOULD work.

Thank you and the team very much for paying attention to the list of small UI buglets in the last version. They are not show-stoppers, but when you live inside Illustrator every day, those things really frustrate. I really appreciate the fast response to the community's requests.

Try the CC app and click the 3 dots in the upper right corner to check for updates.

Hi Ton,

I just did, only my XD has the update button.

Every other app says up to date

New update breaks GPU support on MacOS. I get a big red workspace screen that cannot be removed until you disable GPU Performance. Do not update to this new version! Please fix this Adobe as not good enough to say just turn off GPU Performance.

Same here, but I get a black workspace screen instead of red. HUGE PROBLEM.
