Margins - It's 2025 - too much AI and still NO margins tool

Can a simple Margin tool be implemented in illustrator, similar to the one that's always existed in InDesign?

It's hard to believe it's 2025 and still one needs to follow a long list of hacks like creating rectangles and converting them to guides to have simple margins.

I know some will reply "that's not what illustrator is for" but please - Having to go to InDesign after you finish your vector work is an absolute hassle. Sometimes you just want to create a flyer in illustrator because the interface is less clunky and more flexible, as well as you can edit everything and have tons more freedom with typography.

Please cut it out with clunky AI nonsense and simply give us Margins!

Thank you.

You can also add to future requests and see if this can be implimented some time in the future?

If you have to use Illustrator, I'd say first create ALL the artboards you need (not completely necessary but might as well). Then go to board #1 and create the Guide(s) you want. After you're done, highlight the guides and "Cut", then use "Paste on All Artboards". That should add your margins to every page in exact same spot, then you can "paste in place" for any extra artboards created afterwards. If I'm understanding this correctly.

Forgot to add. Once you have your template created, look into saving as an .AIT file (Illustrator Template). Which you can then launch whenever you'd like!

Hi Sisham - These are all hacks that designers have had to come up with in more than a decade of using illustrator. I know plenty of tricks, I simply can't understand why the tool doesn't even exist yet and we have to find hacky workarounds. Does that make sense? Also, a bit sick of getting these kinds of replies, what I'm saying is common sense I get answers with bold fonts and the typical fake courtesy forum ettiquete. Nonsense. A Margin tool I said.

You know the answer I would have preferred instead of gratuitous advice and ideas?

A simple ackowlendgemente of how much it sucks there's not a margin tool yet as of 2025 and how much ai nonsense and popus are being thrown at us.

Something like : Yeah man, I know it sucks Adobe hasn't implemented a margin tool yet for Illustrator, because it just sucks.

That would have been better.

This is a public forum. 95% of people are not staff. Why should they acknowledge something when they do not feel that way? Personally I have never missed the option. I do not know about others.

If you want to know how many users are missing that option, set up a feature request and wait for the votes coming in.
