Marlett text opens on selecting downloaded font

i am trying to open a font that I downloaded but every time i download a new font and try opening it in the character panel, this font called "Marlett" shows up. Why is this happening?

    i don't know what happened to my computer but the fonts are working now!

    The post you put up gives us very little information to be able to assist you, If this comes back we help vey much to see

    • what exact OS you are on
    • a screenshot showing how you are determining the font is activated
    • a screenshot showing what happens when you pull the list down in your charachter palette
    • if the problem go away after restarting and come back later

    a screenshot can often tell us so much, such as are you installing 10,000 fonts, what app you use to install, what other problem fonts you may have installed, are you using old type 1 fonts, etc.

    Are you saying that you installed 4-5 fonts, and when you try to utilize those fonts in Illustrator you instead get Marlett the dingbat font made by microsoft?

    You may not be installing the fonts correctly or have a font conflict and need to reset your font cache.

    We need to know how you installed the fonts, and what system you are on. Please use the insert image button to share a screenshot of what you are seeing so we can accurately visualize what you are experiencing.

    It might not be a quality font, so Illustrator doesn‘t recognize it.

    i tried this with 4-5 fonts! still got the same problem
