Hi All, After some help please, I love this effect and would like to produce similar, anyone any ideas where to start with this (See attached) not worried about text just the star, preferably in illustrator but whatever you may think best.

That's a mundane fake lens flare, for which there is even a tool in AI, but more sophisticated minds will simply construct it from all kinds of ccircles with strokes and feathered edges and then mush it together using blending modes like Screen.

As indicated by Mylenium, the Lensflare tool may be a very good starting-point.

 

It is one of the most famous, important and versatile tools in Illustrator. Keep in mind that you can double click on its tool icon in the main Tools palette to access its enormous capabilities.

 

Also, sometimes you may want to expand the live Lensflare object in order to modify the single elements, just to create even more impressive flares.
