This is a silly problem but it bothers me.
I'm using Illustrator CC 23.0.1 for Mac OS (10.14.1) and when I click the green button to maximize the document window, the upper and left edges are placed a bit under the toolbars.
So I have to manually place it right like this each time. This can't be by design. Is it known? Any way to fix it for good?

You culd turn on the Application frame.

Thanks for the idea, but I want to use it without the frame as I always had used it. The thing is Illustrator is placing the documents ignoring the toolbars. Either when I open a document or when I maximize it, it doesn't truly match the estate in the screen.

whan about docking the toolbar to the left side? Is it possible on mac in this mode?

The toolbar is docked to the side. I suspect something broken in my Illustrator, because in Photoshop it works as expected.

Hi Carola,
Can you please verify the same behaviour when AI is launched with "UI Scaling" set to "Small"?
1. Launch AI and press "Command + k"
2. Switch to "User Interface" tab
3. Change the "UI Scaling" to "Small"
4. Click on OK button
5. Click on OK button again in the dialog displayed
Thanks & Regards,

Hi, thank you! It works as expected when the UI size is small, however the interface it is too small for me.
I changed it back to my preferred setting but the document it is again misplaced. It looks like Illustrator always places the document as if the UI was in small size.
I also have problems with the start screen that may be related to this. In my preferred setting, I cannot see all the content in it. And I can't scroll horizontally to see it, I have to manually resize this window.

Also, when I open a document it ignores the toolbar and its hidden behind it, so I always have to click the green button to resize the window. Then it is perfectly placed - But, only if I use the small UI setting.

I saw someone marked a reply as a solution, but it is not. Illustrator doesn't work correctly when the UI size is different from small, and changing it to small is not a solution for me.
The UI should be correctly displayed in other UI settings than Small one. The problem even affects the Start window, in which the items are not fully visible and you can't scroll to the right to display everything.
It's helpful, but the app design/behaviour should be corrected to display the interface correctly in all the size settings, as expected.

And why is this still a problem. I'm old. I like my big UI. My eyes like my big UI so why can't Adobe get the window to fit properly? Geebus.
