Merge anchor points that are stacked on top of each other?

In the same path, if I move 2 anchor points so they occupy the same location, is there a way to merge them as one? 

 

ie, it looks like 1 anchor point, but when I move it, it reveals it's 1 on top of another. I want to merge these

In some cases (without Handles that get lost) you can just click (one of them, you can move the other one aside and back again afterwards if needed, just with opposite Arrows) with the Delete Achor Point Tool.
