Micro, macro and default nudging

Hi everybody!

I use A LOT the nudging options in indesign, let's call it (micro= very small amount, macro x10 amount and the default =1px) but in illustrator I only can use/find macro and default.

Does anybody knows if you can do this in illustrator, the three options (micro/macro/default)?

Indesign commands are:

Micro: command+shif+any arrow

Macro: shif+any arrow

default: any arrow

Trying to achieve this in illustrator.

Thank you in advance!!!

P.D.: I'm using latest version of IllustratorCC 2017.0.2

I use this free plug in from astute graphics,  you can set the increments as you please and use the arrow keys

saves trips to preferences too

DirectPrefs - Keyboard Increment preference

Keyboard Increment

Using the arrow keys on a keyboard to move, finely position and step an artwork object(s) is a common task. Normally buried in Illustrator's extensive Preference UI,DirectPrefs  makes the distance setting for this operation immediately available.

With three user-definable presets for each document unit of measurement (millimetres, inches,  pixels, etc.), you can switch regularly to ensure that each object is easily positioned

DirectPrefs - Astute Graphics

You have to make a free account, download their installer and select DirectPrefs

Edit>Preferences>Units

Change "inches" to "millimeters"

Go to the General tab

Change Keyboard Increment to .1mm

I've been using the plug in as Ray suggest it and it works really good... I think is the best solution until Adobe make this addition to Illustrator as in indesign!

...thank you Ray Yorkshirefor the tip!

DirectPrefs looks like the best solution.

You need to have a field selected in the Transform panel (or any other numeric field) to do this.

Noup!

Didn't work... doing what you said (have a field selected in the Transform panel) the nudge is around x5 of the default nudge.

Thank you for your suggestion!

I use the latest version 2017.1.0 (but that should not make a difference) and get this:

Try using the Up or Down Arrow key and Cmd key only for a 1/10th of the default.

Shift for 10 times
