Question

Microsoft fonts not available in Adobe

I've used the cleaner tool and reinstalled my Adobe programs but none of my fonts available in Microsoft are showing up in any of my Adobe products. I'm trying to use fonts that are working fine in Word and PowerPoint, such as Garamond and Century Gothic, to create graphics for a presentation.

You didn't say whether you are using a Mac or PC but in either case to be recognized in Adobe programs fonts must be either installed in the correct location within the computer's operating system or through the use of a font utility like FontExplorer or Suitcase. To install fonts on a Mac see How to install and remove fonts on your Mac - Apple Support and to install on a PC see https://www.fontspring.com/support/how-do-i-install-fonts-on-my-windows-pc .

Hi Bill, Thanks for the info. None of my Microsoft default fonts are being recognized outside of Microsoft applications. They  no longer show up in Fontbook or Adobe. I can however still utilize them in all of my Microsoft applications. Any advice on how to make them available again outside of Microsoft applications?

As I said in my first post make sure that they are installed correctly in the operating system. Check out the link I gave you in my first post and see if the fonts you need have been installed in the correct location. If not then I would suggest doing a search on the computer for where they actually are installed and drag copies of them onto your desktop (use copies so that the Microsoft programs can still see them). Then drag those copies to the correct location for fonts on your Mac. Chances are that the Microsoft programs will also be able to see the fonts in the location you move the copies to so you may ultimately be able to remove the originals of the fonts.

Microsoft now include fonts inside the app bundles only. Apparently this is so the apps can be sold on the Mac App Store; such apps are not allowed to install anything to the system.

Some special fonts can only be loaded in a way that a particular system, software can see and use. You can not control this during installation, you can later interfere with external font management programs.

Are those fonts correctly installed in the system?

I would assume so... This is a recent problem since I updated my programs I just discovered they weren't working in adobe. Last month when I was working on a similar project they were available. I also cleared all of my preferences prior to using the cleaner to see if that would fix the issue.
