What is the exact Mime type for .ai files?


file --mime-type filename.ai

I am getting application/pdf instead of application/vnd.adobe.illustrator

Don't directly email .ai files. Zip them first. (AI files are really PDF files with an added AI specific section).

A MIME-Type for Illustrator seems to be existing:

application/illustrator

(see: All known MIME types )

BUT I have only Windows-PC's at hand.
So, can YOU tell, that OS-X or the System-Software on Mac-Computers can handle THAT application/illustrator MIME-Type?

Please: what is the actual issue? File corruption when sending files? People on the other end unable to work with their computer?
