Mirrored Drawing - Now what?

So I was creating a symetrical human figure, and I decided to use the live mirror drawing feature.  This was pretty great.  But now I need to increase the size of the overall image, and I'm realizing that anything I do to change that symetrical image, messes up the reflection.  Is there a way that I can commit to the image so that I can work with it more now?

I did find out that I was able to scale the illustration so long as I unhid the guides for the mirror set up and scaled them at the same time.  I still haven't been able to commit to the two sided image though.  I suppose I could copy and paste and reflect, but the whole idea of using the mirror set up in the first place was to maintain that symetrical relationship for any further unexpected adjustments.  Your instancing solution is an interesting one, Ares.  I may have to look into that for the next time.

You can also use another method that allow to edit separate mirrored object with "Expand Appearance" command as Monika suggested. Use Effect->Transform. (see capture).

You can use Object > Expand to commit it.

I just tried that and it didn't work.  Is there maybe another step involved that I'm not thinking of?

Can you please tell us exactly what "didn't work"?

Also; please show screenshots.

Unfortunetly no.

Use regular method. reflect tool or just flip you copied instances. I use that method. That allow to edit. make
