Hello,
I have an annoying problem that I hope someone can help me with. I'm using Illustrator CC 2018 on a Mac and I have a missing font in the font list, which does not exist anywhere on my computer. I've tried resetting the parameters when launching Illustrator, looked for it in every single "Fonts" folder on the computer, but it literally does not exist.
Anyone has come across this issue before?

Assign a different font to that text object.

And when you assing a different font, that other font doesn't go away?

No, of course not. I'm guessing there's some issue with the cache in Illustrator, because the font does not physically exist anywhere on my pc so there really is no reason for Illustrator to display it in the font list.

So it appears when you just click to create a new text object?
In that case you will need to adjust the [Default Character style] in the character styles panel of all the New document profiles that you use..

No it does not appear just when I create a new text object, it's always there in the font list, no matter what I do.

Then try cleaning the system font cache.

I have the same Myriad Roman font listed (and missing) in my font list.
The font has been part of CS6 and earlier and I can still find it as required inside the CS6 app, but it is not installed in any of the fonts folders, at least I cannot find it.
Cleaning caches does not help.
Anyway, Myriad Pro Regular is the substitute for this mystery font.

What I found as a temporary solution is to just download and install the Myriad Roman font from a free font website. I have always liked my font lists and files in general to be perfectly tidy and organised so this solution somewhat fixes the problem.

My system has it still installed. Searched for it and found it in the System library > Application Support > Adobe > Fonts > Reqrd

For some reason the Fonts folder that you mentioned is empty for me.

I don't have such a folder, maybe it was installed by one of your many older Illustrator versions.

I've got it as well on this machine which is still running CS5.1. It's a Mac so also has the font in the App package in a similar place as Monika mentions. The version here is a PS Type 1 so that's why it is not recognized by the newer OSes.

I had the font saved previously, but not installed.
I have Mac OS Sierra.
I just put it into User > Library > Fonts and the missing font warning disappears. (Macintosh HD > Library > Fonts works too)
Although it is a type 1 font, the Adobe applications still can use it.

The question is, why does it show as a missing font in the font list when it is not installed.

I would guess that it's somehow in the New document profile.

That's what I was thinking, but when I tested it with a recent beta, that did not have any of my old New Document profiles and choose one I had certainly never used, the Myriad Roman is still listed as missing.
