Missing fonts - suddenly

I have been doing a client's business cards for years. All of a sudden my entire Rotis and RotisSemiSans family disappeared from Illustrator and PhotoShop. It is on computer in Font Library and says activated. Any thoughts?

If  your Rotis font consists of one file that is identified as the font suitcase and additional files referred to as outline fonts then it is a Postscript Type 1 font. This type of font is over forty years old and has now been officially retired from the latest operating systems and versions of Creative cloud. I can personally attest that Rotis Serif and Rotis Sans does exist in Open Type. Open Type is recommended over all others because it has been designed to operate equally well on Macs and PCs.

You can buy an OpenType version of the font.

Or install the older version of Illustrator and continue working with it on that particular job (until that version is no longer compatible with your system)

I don't see any of the Rotis family of typefaces being available to sync at Adobe Fonts. If these fonts are installed locally on your computer what font format are they? If they're Postscript Type 1 that would explain the issue. T1 fonts are no longer supported in Adobe's applications.
