Missing Objects When Exporting as an SVG

Explorer ,
Sep 22, 2021 Sep 22, 2021

I created an illustration that is intended to be laser cut. It's complex and has multiple closed simple paths and several compound paths. I exported it as an SVG 1.1 file to bring into Lightburn because the file is quite large in an AI format. I realized that the SVG didn't look the same as the AI file. There are a couple of compound paths that are missing in the SVG.

I repeated the export several times and it is consistently missing the same compound paths in the SVG. Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, is there a way to ensure that the SVG matches the AI illustration?

Thank you for those recommendations. I found the issues were due to having unfilled/closed paths. I couldn't see them because all my elements are black (on a white background). The empty path looked like it was just the void in the middle of a compound path. I found a plug-in that allowed me to find all my unfilled paths and also my open paths. It saves out as a correct svg now.

Thank you again.

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out. You may try expanding the compound paths. Also, if there are multiple groups in the layer, try ungrouping all of them, see if that helps. If not, could you please share the document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link here or via DM. We will look at it, and Adobe Certified Professionals (ACP's) here could also help look into your file.

Regards,

Anshul Saini

Hi. I think SVG is not the best format for complex graphics. Try another format like PDF.
