Mockup greyed out in AI Beta

I've dropped my vector logo image onto my .PNG image of a girl wearing a teeshirt.
I go to Object/mockup/place, but 'place & release' are greyed out.

Any suggestions please?

Pixel on Pixel does not work. Top object needs to be vector

I've put an .SVG of a logo on top of both an adobe stock image and an owned image but mockup beta is still inaccessible for me.
I have tried every variation of opening the original artwork individually, then copy [pasting into the a new project. The logo is arranged in the front, both are embedded objects, I have also tried with both images saved as .SVG vectors but this appears to not work for me.

the files I am trying to work with in both PNG/JPG fomrat as well as as SVGs.
I'm super lost here.

An SVG is not necessarily a vector file.

So open jpg > image trace > ???
Using a "makeuseof" tutorial but it is doing more complex work than I am trying to.

Stupid question, but mock up is greyed out for me, can you do png on png file for this? I tried going to the window link etc but doesn't work.

The logo looks like a linked file. If it's really a vector file, try embedding it first.

Correct! I had to go to the links window, click on the menu (three lines) then click 'embed image'.
Now I can apply the mockup and it works fantastically. Thank you!
