Modified text when opening a pdf in AI

Hello,

I'm confused by a file that I had to modify in AI. I had just to vectorize all the text, keeping the layout unchanged.

It was a pdf file that we created in AI.

When I see the preview in the file explorer, it's the good file, the good text I see. It's also OK when I open it with the reader.

But when I open it in AI, first I have a notification that a font is missing, as it often occurs, but then the file is modified and the text isn't the same. It then corresponds to an old file we did.

I really don't undestand why this is happening.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It is because illustrator cannot find the font. A pdf. file does not include the actual font. So, if you receive a file with a font you do not have installed, illustrator replace it with another font. The solution would be to find the font you are missing and install it or you can convert the font to outlines.

To convert the font to outlines you need to create a new document, then go to: File -> Place and choose your PDF. Make sure the link box is checked and click Place. Go to Object -> Flatten Transparency... Check Convert All Text to Outlines then click ok.
