Montserrat font typing in glyphs

Question

Hi everyone!I am having trouble with my Montserrat font (particularly the 'thin' variations). I have been using this font forever (brand font) and yesterday all of a sudden the font was typing in glyph form without me touching any settings. I have tried everything to reset my settings, remove and re-download the font, make sure my Illustrator version is up to date and still the font is wigging out. I need this font to be able to design all my content and can't seem to figure out why this has happened - hoping someone can help!!

From where did you get it? Is this a Google font?

Maybe try and get it from some other place. Is it available on Adobe fonts as well?

Do you use font managers?

Did you update Illustrator? When was the last time you rebooted the computer? Or reset the Illustrator preferences?
