Morphing text

I created the attached image in an old version of CorelDraw years ago. I'd like to know if it can be replicated in AI.

I remember the steps in Corel - I'd morph the first name into the last name for each then align the last name so it is single. (I hope that makes sense).

I'd appreciate any direction to do in AI.

A Blend? Though of course dealing with the compound path will be a pain in AI. Corel is much more forgiving in that department.
