Mouse Scroll Not Working in Menu

Hi All,

For some reason my mouse scroll isn't working in menus (I've tried other mice). For longer menus like 'Window' I have to click on the down arrow at the bottom of the panel - Very time consuming. Very frustrating.

Any ideas?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Could you please share a few more details like:

  • OS and version of Illustartor
  • Are you using multiple external monitors? If yes, with which port and cable combination it is connected. Which one is the primary/ main monitor?
  • Are you using any external GPU?
  • A small video demonstrating the issue could be really helpful.
  • Does resetting Illustrator Preferences (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html) help to resolve the issue?
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

Also, please try running the app in Safe Mode  (MacWindows) and share your observation with us.

We are here to help. We just need more information.

Regards,

Anshul Saini

Hi There,

  • I'm using a Dell XPS Laptop with no external monitors
  • I'm using the latest version of Illustrator avaible from the Creative Cloud
  • Resetting Illustrator Preferences hasn't helped

Thanks for sharing the details. I would suggest you to try the following steps and let me know how it goes:

  • Rename the CEP folder to CEP.old from the following location:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
  • If that doesn't help, rename the UXP folder to UXP.old from the following location:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
  • If that doesn't help either, uninstall the application using the CC Cleaner tool and reinstall from the Creative Cloud Desktop app.

Also, you may try the steps mentioned in this community post (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/resolve-slow-performance-and-unexpected-behaviors-in-illu...) if the steps mentioned above don't help.

thx

Anshul. I'm on a Mac if that makes any difference. I'm also not a coder (but my daughter can do this).  I did unistall but did not use the Adobe cleaner.

Just to be clear. See attached. This is the screen I get. Nothing is clickable.

Hi @jeffreym4272002,

Thanks for trying the steps. It seems like a scaling issue different than the Original poster issue. I would suggest you to do the following and let us know how it goes:
Press Cmd+k > User Interface > Move "UI Scailing" slider to "Small" > Click Ok > Illustartor will restart.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Anshul:

On my User Interface screen I don't see the same thing that you see. No scaling option. Screen Shot 2021-12-10 at 2.53.54 AM.png

Thanks for sharing the screenshot & checking this. I would suggest you go to the macOS System Preferences > Display > Select "Scaled" > More Space and see if that helps resolve the issue. If it doesn't, then I'd recommend you to connect with our technical support team (https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen). The team here would be able to perform remote troubleshooting and assist you accordingly.
